One of the scariest and most addicting horror games of the year is coming to new consoles. Crow Country from SFB Games will be released on Nintendo Switch on October 16th.
“Crow Country” may seem like a more cheerful and grainy “Animal Crossing,” but that only adds to the creepy, dark atmosphere of the horror adventure. You play as Mara Forrest, a brave young woman who explores the ruins of an abandoned amusement park called Crow Country. Its owner, Edward Crowe, mysteriously disappeared from the park and has been missing for two years. It’s up to Mara to solve the mystery behind an abandoned theme park and its long-lost owner.
Engadget’s Cheyenne McDonald reviewed the game in May, highlighting that it draws inspiration from the aesthetics and terrifying monsters of Sony’s original PlayStation horror games such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill. She also described the game as “cozy”, which is an odd word to describe a horror game. The “cosy” nature of The Land of Crows heightens the horror even further by placing familiar characters in a Lovecraftian atmosphere of fear and mystery. It’s so good that it’s even on our list of the best horror games of the year.
Crow Country is also available on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X/S.
