Remedy has announced that Control Ultimate Edition will be released for Mac computers on February 12, 2025. The developer hasn’t revealed which Macs will run this title, but it’s safe to say that the game will only run on M-series computers.
Control Ultimate Edition includes the original game, post-launch patches, and season pass expansions. It has not been revealed whether this version will include updates for current-gen consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This information comes from the company’s investor conference, Capital Markets Day. Remedy made several other announcements during the gathering, including that he is still working on Control 2.
The game was first revealed in 2022, but there hasn’t been much information about it since it was first announced. The developer stated that the sequel will be an action RPG. This is interesting since the original Control had RPG elements such as various weapons and ability upgrades, but it’s not a full-fledged action RPG. Remedy now owns the control IP, so they can do whatever they want with the franchise.
The developer has announced that the original Control will receive a free update early next year. This update unlocks “some previously released content.” It was also talked about that the critical darling Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.8 million copies since its release. This sequel became Remedy’s best-selling game in history.
Finally, the developer laid out some very vague plans to transform both Alan Wake and Control from “great games” to “world-class franchises” by 2030. We don’t know exactly what this means, but it probably indicates an expansion of pop culture. Footprints.
