Eric Larsen’s long-running, wild dragon comics are unfamiliar with teaming ups and crossovers with characters from other comic publishers. In 2021, the honorable character was in the new Brooklyn Universe character of Line Webtoon, in collaboration with Red Hook and Luna, in the “Bride of Wax” backup feature, which was run in Savage Dragon Issues #259-261.

Worlds teams up with Serena (What? Press) from Tales of the Night Watchman and Serena from Aquaria from Webtoon’s new Brooklyn Universe with Villain Mako from the classic dragon, Aquaria again clashes in a two-part romp entitled “Extreme Mako-ver!”

Co-writer Dave Kelly returned to perform in Image Comic Sandbox in this low-key follow-up to the aforementioned “The Bride’s Wax,” running in Question #259-261, and also saw a triple threat team-up with characters from these three realms. This time he has co-writer Adam McGovern, art’s Paolo Leandri, color and design’s Dominique Regan, and typography Stefano Pabo. This will take the latter team’s eighth lap around Aquaria Tale and Savage Dragon’s back page at her first cross-anniversary event. So you can argue that Kelly has joined them.

Dave Kelly is now executive editors of Heavy Metal Magazine, and Adam McGovern and Palo Leandri are most well known for creating Nightworld for Images.

In a statement, Dave Kelly explained the origins of the project and expressed immeasurable excitement.

“After ‘Bride of Wax’, Adam approached me about narratives in a similar fashion. Eric Larsen was very generous with Dean Haspiel and me, and let me use the original dragon. Mako got it. It wasn’t an easy job. It ended up creating a spiritual successor to both stories. ”

Added by Adam McGovern:

“Paolo and I were very flattered when Dave showed his mother and made a stealth crossover with Aquaria in a scene of the story of him and Dino set in the new Brooklyn universe. The crazy idea was to seek Mako, which I don’t remember, but he and the aquarium played a match for ages. Space is for!”

Savage Dragon #276 will arrive at the comic shop on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025. Please see the preview page below.
