Issue #3 of Dynamite’s new Terminator comics includes the second (and final) part of the story set during the Vietnam War. Private Duggan is about to leave the country with his wife and child, but he has a Terminator on his tail. You know, that’s the case with Terminator. They will never stop until you die.
The cat-and-mouse game is exciting, with hardware such as tanks, bikes, rocket launchers, and helicopters being incorporated into the action at various points. It also has a decent ending, with a very creepy moment before the big climax.
However, the backup story, “Buried Alive,” continues to be baffling and a little pointless. Considering there are only a few pages in each issue, I feel like this space could be used more productively. Three issues have been published and I still don’t know what’s going on in this story.
Still, the main event was a good one, and ended the Terminator’s 40th anniversary with a bang. Considering how strong the lead stories have been so far, I’m looking forward to seeing what the comic will do next.
