Dark Horse’s Terminator comics, like Alien and Predator, have tended to be of a somewhat mixed but decent quality, but they’re often to blame for Sarah Connor’s The problem was that I was too fixated on the formula of how I would appear. Of course, movies have done the same thing, featuring the same characters over and over again.

It’s a relief that Dynamite’s new Terminator series doesn’t do anything like that. The first article in this issue is the first in a series that follows U.S. GI Duggan during his departure from Nam at the end of the war. There’s just one problem. Skynet is sending Terminators to Vietnam, and Duggan’s fate may be intertwined with a terrifying cyborg from the future.

It’s a great start to the story, with some great characterization and some brutal action scenes involving the Terminator himself.

The second story is another confusing multi-page story called “Buried Alive.” Even though I started reading from the last issue, I didn’t understand what was going on then, and even after reading these few pages, I’m still none the wiser. There’s no time to breathe, and even the first few pages feel wasted. The lead stories are very strong, especially in the first two issues of this new series.

Yes, despite the disappointment of the backup story, Terminator #2 is worth checking out. The lead story is a new story that starts here, so it’s okay if you haven’t read the first issue. It’s wonderful.
