After the somewhat lackluster first volume of Street Fighter Unlimited, The Heart of Battle is a much more satisfying and enjoyable read. It brings closure to a number of story threads that have been dragged out for far too long, and provides a great cliffhanger/setup for the next big crossover.
Despite the high camp and ridiculousness of the Street Fighter series (or perhaps more accurately), when it works, it’s great and fun, and The Heart of Battle sees UDON get back on track and the next storyline. is Street Fighter vs. Darkstalker. Will the clash of the world’s warriors against Capcom’s supernatural world work out? We’ll soon find out.
