A demonic priest hears the confessions of the truly penitent, all of whom beg for forgiveness despite the terrible things they have done. At night, rejected by Heaven and banished from Hell, the priest exacts his own violent justice against the easily deceived and evildoers who inflict great pain on innocent people.
Spillblood is an ultra-violent, hyper-stylized tale of a walk on the dark side of town. A cathartic mix of dark morality and bloody justice. Rendered in stark black, white and red, it will have you on your feet as holy bullets fly and, as the title suggests, blood really does flow.
Writer Jonathan Hedrick has come up with a very compelling formula with this one-shot. I wanted to see more of Priest and his righteous acts of violence against the underdogs of society. This may be an incredibly simple morality play, but that’s part of what makes it such an addictive and cathartic read. Artist Stefano Cardocelli brings a truly surreal atmosphere to the story by adding simple blood splatters across the page amidst the minimalist depictions of the characters. By intentionally leaving out details, you’re letting your brain fill in the bloody blanks for itself.
This is a potentially valuable item and definitely worth purchasing, especially as it arrives just in time for Halloween.
