This issue of Raise Hell is all about young love and first love, as the demon Ali sets in motion a chain of events that could lead to serious heartbreak and cause a rift in the relationships of the three central friends.
Issue 4 has a lovely pulse of longing, like that first chest-pounding pain of true love that you only get when you’re a teenager — the kind of pain that makes your heart skip a beat, takes your breath away and makes it impossible to focus on anything but the object of your affection. Of course, that dizzying high is accompanied by a crushing low, which is somewhat expressed here.
There are some nice homages to the manga in this issue, less upbeat this time and more engaging. There’s also a bit of sadness along the way. Will our three friends be able to band together and overcome the difficult situation? Stay tuned for the next issue!
