Clover Press is bringing back Chester Gould’s legendary Dick Tracy Comic Strips to print in the definitive deluxe slip case edition. We’ll take an exclusive look at the special lithographs that can be used as part of the campaign. The Lithograph, featuring Gould’s Art, first published in Life Magazine, is just one of many rewarders who can unlock when the project is published on Backerkit. Please see the Backerkit Prelaunch page.
The new collection will reprint all the Dick Tracy Daily Strips published between 1941 and 1944, offering fans the opportunity to experience Gould’s classic crime prevention adventures with fantastic details. Measures 11″ x 8.5″ in a horizontal format, the four volumes are housed in an impressive vertical slipcase with all-new pop art-inspired artwork by David Mac and Stewart Kenneth Moore.
“For a blend of off-the-shelf characters with humor and hard-boiled noir crime, Dick Tracy has pleased fans for years,” said Hank Canaltz, Clover’s publisher. “Creator Chester Gould wrote and drew Daily Strips until 1977, creating the world of Dick Tracy, creating many iconic support characters, including Mumble, Mall, Flattop and Tess’ True Heart.
Alongside the Lithograph, campaign rewards include sticker packs, a “Dick Tracy Case File” trading card set exclusively for buckle kits, and discount + exclusive bookmarks featuring David Mack’s art for those who pledge in their first 48 hours via the “Early Bird Edition” tier.
Volume cover art features contemporary interpretations of Gould World by Jerry Ordway, Stewart Kenneth Moore, JK Snyder III and Juan Jose Leipe, offering fans a unique blend of classic strips and modern designs.
