Oni Press has announced a new summer 2025 graphic novel. MEAT EATERS is a story told and created by acclaimed comic book artist Meredith McClaren, co-creator of the Black Cloak series. This comic is a punishing and poignant original graphic novel about the monsters that lurk both beyond the darkness and within us.

“‘MEAT EATERS’ is an ode to all the teen horror television I’ve loved and watched over the years,” said writer and illustrator Meredith McLaren. “There are bad things in the world, and sometimes they hurt you, and sometimes they change you in ways you don’t want.”

The premise of the story is as follows.

Let me tell you that dying is hard. Ashley Moore, 19, found this out the hard way. All Ashley wanted was for her to keep her head down and work hard until she could escape the small town she felt she was stuck in. But one night, after she wakes up covered in blood, she realizes that Ashley is irretrievably dead, but her foolproof plan for escape goes to waste and she finds herself inside She notices that something has changed.

With no heartbeat and a disturbing craving for fresh, preferably bloody flesh, Ashley finds herself in a world that exists just beneath our own, a world of ghouls and monsters and things that go bump in the night. I notice that there is. Despite her desire to be alone and never think about the night of her death, Ashley is slowly drawn into the extraordinary world, receives advice from an ancient vampire, and, angry She fends off the leaders of her pack and reluctantly becomes like an older sister to her. Werewolves Motley and Harrison. As she does so, she finds it increasingly difficult to distance herself from the parts of herself she would like to ignore: what happened that fateful night when she stopped breathing. I learned that the truth cannot remain buried forever.

It’s hard to die in this next intuitive story about the effects of trauma and anxiety. But are you going to keep doing it? It could be worse. “MEAT EATERS” will first arrive in comic shops and bookstores everywhere in July 2025.
