2025 marks the 50th anniversary of Richard’s creation and publication of Captain Kanak. Since then, Captain Kanak has evolved into one of Canada’s most iconic heroic figures. The captain received a Canadian postage stamp issued in 1995, and Royal Canadian Mint released Captain Canuck $20 Silver Coin in 2018. Over 4,000,000 Captain Kanak Comics books have been published, but the publication of the series has frequently been different over the years. The recent threat of annexation and tariffs imposed by the US President have brought the spotlight to Captain Canuck as a symbol of Canada’s resilience and independence.
