Captain America, a new Marvel comic miniseries launched in 1776 this November, faces his most patriotic mission. Protect the birth of the United States from threats that change your timeline. Written by Amazing Spider-Man and Thor author J. Michael Straczynski and featuring art by Ron Lim and Sean Damien Hill, the fifth issue event arrives just before America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
When mystical powers threaten to rewrite history at the dawn of the American Revolution, Cap brings together a team of Marvel Heroes to ensure that the nation’s founding remains intact. According to official Marvel accounts, “the fate of the nation depends on balance” as the Heroes navigate the dangers of the past and secure the future.
Marvel explored this period before this period in 1976’s Battle of Captain America: The Bicentennial. Jack Kirby sent a cap in the 1770s to fight Benjamin Franklin, and even influenced the design of the American flag. Other time travel escapes to the revolution include the huge sized Fantastic Four #2, the Skull Invasion involving Thomas Jefferson, and the battle with Kang and Moon Knight.
1776 #1 (5) will hit the comic shop on November 25th.
