Canon has released a new iOS live streaming app, Live Switcher Mobile, that supports up to three camera views that can be switched with just a few taps. The app currently only works on Apple devices and oddly does not support Canon’s proprietary cameras.
Live Switcher Mobile allows users to specify the number of seconds a viewpoint remains on the camera before automatically changing to another viewpoint. The app also supports on-screen captions along with real-time comments. However, the latter feature only works when streaming to YouTube and Twitch, and as The Verge points out, the app also streams to other RTMP-enabled platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, and even LinkedIn. can.
Live Switcher Mobile is free, but the free version only supports resolutions up to 720p. Ads and watermarks are also displayed on the screen. A paid subscription costs $18 per month and provides image overlays, picture-in-picture zoom, and panning features. Of course, the maximum resolution is increased to 1080p and ads and watermarks are removed.
Live Switcher Mobile has fewer features compared to free apps like OBS Studio and Streamlabs, which means Canon needs a lot of work to make the paid plan worth investing in. . Fortunately, support for Canon cameras is coming soon.
