Bug Wars #6 did not end the microscopic, bloody tale of Jason Aaron and Mahmoud Asler. With the wider world and all the tips from the final page of this series, there’s much to explore. But it hits all the right notes as the end of the first act of the story. Aaron and Asler pack the pages of Bug Wars #6 with a lot of dangers, actions and emotions.
In particular, Asler does not skimp on gore or details. A particularly terrifying moment comes when Slade’s murderer, fully empowered by his father’s mysterious amulet magic, fights through a horde of bugs. He picks up one warrior, literally pushes him into the ball, sending blood everywhere. He turns down the warrior like a hot knife through butter, thanks to Matt Wilson’s incredible work of colour, in a massacre that swirls through multicolored blood sprays.
This battle is topped only on the opening page where Slade’s brother Sid is attacked by the yard army. Asler tries to emphasize how horrifying the moment is. Various welts dot Sid’s skin, blood begins to drip from his nose, and he screams in agony. It’s scary to watch, but it sells just how dangerous the world of bug wars is. Worse, Aaron’s script reveals in horrifying detail what’s going on with Sid.

However, Bug Wars #6 is not all about blood and courage. Aaron takes the opportunity to write an emotional reunion between Slade and his late father Jim, showing the ferociousness he unleashes in order to protect his brother. It says a lot when you consider that Sid made Slade’s life a living hell before he was six inches tall, but it also shows that Slade really loves Sid about all the ups and downs.
Towards the end of the matter, the creative team begins to give more hints on what’s coming next, in addition to Becca Carey’s carefully crafted journal entries. I won’t go into detail, but it’s really exciting and shows that Bug Wars could be a saga or an image series on an invincible level in terms of building a compelling original story. That’s why imagery has become one of my favourite publishers over the years. Creators can create and create comics that outweigh some of the biggest works Marvel and DC are doing, as well as rivals.
Bug Wars #6 brings a bloody, moving end to the first act of the story, hinting at more. Aaron and Asler created something really special here. I encourage readers to check it out. If you’re a fan of what Aaron did with Thor, the teenage mutant ninja turtles, or absolute Superman, you’ll need to pick up this comic. If you love fantasy, you need to see the world that Asler has brought to life. If you’re really looking for a title that will shake up your pull list, this should definitely be on your radar.

Aaron’s script is a fierce and emotionally moving part, especially when it comes to the bonds between the Slaymakers family.
Asler has not refrained from details of his art, including Gore.
Bloodshed couldn’t have looked any better thanks to Wilson’s colours.
Carrie’s lettering adds a special touch to this issue, especially with Slade’s narration and journal entries.
A comic that introduces the best images.
