Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase (BICS) is scheduled to host a two-day show in 2025. The event will return to Industry City in Brooklyn on April 26 and 27, 2025, with two indoor floors and an outdoor courtyard.
“Due to BICS’ dramatic growth and community response, we are pleased to announce that next year it will be a two-day event,” BICS event director Ainsley Leonardis said in a statement.
Now in its fourth year, BICS brings local New York talent to life, as The Beat discovered on this year’s New York outing. The showcase started with 50 tables in 2022 and has grown to more than 200 vendors this year in 2024 under the guidance of organizer St. Mark’s Comics in Industry City.
“In 2023 we had 260 vendors at 200 tables and we had to turn people away,” said Mitch Cutler, co-owner of St. Mark’s Comics. A vendor survey found that over 75% of respondents liked the idea of attending for two days.
Home to many art schools and several manga publishers, New York remains a thriving city for manga artists and cartoonists. While there are a few shows between the huge NYCC event, the more selective MoCCA (also held in the spring), and FlameCon in August, there are more There seems to be room for many shows. Meet the demand for Artist Alley tables.
BICS organizers plan to incorporate the panel in 2025, with vendor applications opening on January 7th and details expected to be announced in the coming months.
