Boom Buster recently hit Kickstarter, with Switch support confirmed in the final hours of the campaign.
The game has already reached its funding goal of $50,000. With a stretch goal of $70,000, it was unclear whether there would ever be a Switch port, but the campaign ended just above that amount. While the project likely won’t be completed for at least two years, Nintendo fans can look forward to it in the future.
As for the game, Boom Buster is a hand-drawn platform adventure that takes inspiration from the early 2000s, including the music, with the development team having in mind classics like Jet Set Radio and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike.
Here is some additional information:
No balanced breakfast is complete without an adrenaline rush, and Boom Buster is an action-packed, hand-drawn platform adventure that will keep you coming back for more. Inspired by the early 2000s with a modern twist, the game offers a new experience for everyone.
Exploding things isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle for Buster and his girlfriend, Bridget. Unfortunately, the noise keeps the Wizard from sleeping! The solution? Steal all the explosives from them and act like nothing happened! Surely they won’t come after him… right? Embark on a wild journey to defeat the Wizard and get back what’s yours!
Gameplay is very simple: Bridget periodically drops BOMs that will decrease in number and you need to sort them into color-coded containers in enough time or… BOOM! They’ll explode. Seems easy, right?
You’re wrong.
To reach each BOM, you’ll need to survive tricky platforming alongside the Wizard’s minions – but don’t get too familiar with the level layout as it’s split into three acts, each unfolding from a central gimmick – things will heat up quickly as the stages get increasingly tense.
