One of the comic’s biggest jobs is full as Boom announced its new editor to the chief. This is the following additional announcement to the editorial team:
Andy Schmidt joins the boom! Starting April 7th, he will be in the studio as the new editor-in-chief.
Andy has a long and broad history in the comics industry, beginning his career as an editor at Marvel, helping to manage projects such as the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. He is a senior editor at IDW Publishing and was recognized for the success of the comics of licensed franchise Transformers, Gi Joe and Star Trek. Andy spent two years at Hasbro, Inc, the world’s fourth largest entertainment licensing company, as director of IP development and brand design. During his career, Andy founded and led the comics experience, created and mentored courses to train the next generation of comic book creators, and also ran his own publishing and printing business. Andy is coming to the boom! Rich experience, creative vision, and contacts for the entire creative community. In his role, Andy leads the editorial team, helping to develop and implement the overall publishing strategy of the boom, Boom! Provides guidance and vision for the creative output of each of the four imprints. Andy reports to Deputy Publisher Bryce Carlson.
Lily Kesinger has joined the boom! The studio is in the editor’s position. With 10 years of editing experience, Lily takes her to the boom! A set of different talents and skills across different genres. Lily began her career with Horton Mifflin Harcourt Books, a place aimed at younger readers. She was a key contributor to the development and launch of Etch, an imprint of HMH’s graphic novel. Meanwhile, she also sat on the Children’s Book Council’s Graphic Novel Committee. She then worked at Clarion Book, a division of Harper Collins, where she hone her editing skills in critically acclaimed fiction and graphic novels. I’m excited to have her talent and expertise in the boom! Lily reports to Editor-in-Chief Andy Schmidt.
Olivia Dontosoff has joined the boom! Studio as a new managing editor. Olivia came from Astra Publishing House in New York and managed projects and quality control in both children and adults departments. During her time at Astra, Olivia helped her develop a critical process of keeping her book on time, on time, and on budget. Working in departments and fields, she brings a keen understanding of the needs and expectations of the various departments that contribute to the creation of the book. Her passion for our industry is evident from the work she did in the Bronx. This can be panels, reading groups, etc. Olivia brings deep experience and skills to one of the most important roles in the publishing process, and the studio is excited to welcome her. Olivia reports to Operations Director Stephanie Lazarsky.

Josh Hayes has been promoted to VP of Consumer & Sales Marketing. Josh has joined the boom! January 2022, and soon Boom! has established itself as a go-to resource for retail and distribution partners. Built on a relationship that has worked for 15 years at Diamond Distributor, Josh is a well-known and highly respected member of the publishing community. His expertise led to the boom! Boom at the same time through a time of massive change in the industry! directly helps the evolution of consumer businesses. Recently, Josh played a key role in the transition to PRH’s sales team. With his new expanded role, Josh booms! Oversees the sales support, marketing and promotion teams of our book, ensuring that each book has an opportunity to shine and succeed. Josh continues to report to publisher Michael Kelly.
Ash Troub will be promoted to Senior Associate in Special Projects. Ash has joined the boom! The studio team in mid-2021 will focus on direct consumer support. For the past four years, she’s been Boom! It has shifted to the lead role of managing the existence of Webstore, improving the flow of customer service for crowdfunding projects, becoming a key contributor to live events, and taking on metadata management in the digital space. For the past year, Ash has been Boom! was an important collaborator with integration into PRH. boom! I’m extremely excited to expand her role in the crowdfunding space and improve the metadata process that allows me to continue interacting with external partners. Ash reports to VP, Josh Hayes of Consumer & Sales Marketing.
Lastly, Austin Yi has been promoted to Associate, selling focusing on foreign rights. After joining the boom! In January 2023, Austin quickly surpassed his role and boomed! contributed to the solicitation process and customer service team. In his new role, Austin deals with every aspect of foreign rights. This is an area where attention to detail and dedication to process management is important. Austin reports to Josh Hayes, VP of Consumer & Sales Marketing.
