Laval, who co-authored this year’s Imperial War: Black Panther Special, said, “When Jonathan Hickman invited me to tackle a one-shot of the Black Panther Empire, I jumped because it might be my only chance. Will I become King again?
“I’m so happy to be part of this project and collaborate with Marvel again. Being on the Black Panther space adventure is an exciting new challenge. I’m usually more interested in urban heroes, so jumping into space felt like a perfect change.
Issue #1 will be released on December 17th on Cafu’s main cover. In the meantime, Imperial ends with the fourth issue on October 29th, with the two closing with a previously announced ongoing series, with planets She-Hulk (by Stephanie Phillips & Aaron Cooder) and Centurion (Jed Mackay & Alessandro Cappuccio) exhaling November 5th and November respectively. Time, and whether this will lead to something new and ongoing Black Panther, remains unknown in its final main book (by Eve Ewing and Chris Allen), which ended in March 2024.
