Welcome to another edition of the Fantastic Five, where we give props to the best comics of the week! DC had another great week, Marvel went big with the all-new Venom, and Image brought back Snotgirl. Let’s go to the books!

Best comics of the week: December 4, 2024

#5: Absolute superhuman #2

Absolute Superman #2 is a unique take on Superman’s Kryptonian past and an original approach to Lois Lane, blending action-packed sequences with a slow-burning plot that deepens the lore and intrigue. I am. While the villain remains a mystery, this issue sets the stage for an engaging story with vibrant visuals and a new twist on an iconic character.

#4: All-New Venom #1

All-New Venom #1 captivates readers with clever mysteries and strong supporting characters while reimagining Venom’s legacy in a fresh and grounded way. However, the minimal focus on Venom himself and the lingering questions from past events take things away. Still, All-New Venom’s electrifying mysteries, jaw-dropping action, and surprising new twists on the Venom mythos will leave fans wanting to know what happens next.

#3: Two Face #1

Christian Ward and Fabio Velas deliver an exciting rendition of Two-Face’s war with order. It has a lot of duality and its stunning visuals will make you want to watch it twice to make sure you haven’t missed anything. Harvey Dent and Two-Face have their moments of brilliance, and it becomes a fascinating story to see who takes the lead. Get ready for wild, character-driven stories that leave their mark while entertaining you.

#2: Snot Girl #16

As a newcomer to the series, I’m reminded of director David Robert Mitchell’s late 2010 design-zombie mystery Under the Silver Lake. I love this movie. I’m intrigued and like all the books I’ve read, I want to dig into the technique and read more. I’m looking forward to following Snotgirl. There’s no such thing as an allergy.

#1: Batgirl #2

Batgirl #2 made me breathe a sigh of relief. It’s proof that Brombal isn’t just a one-issue wonder, but someone who really, really cares about this character as much as I do. Not just Cass, but everything surrounding them, including Shiva. This is a fitting book for both characters, and as Kath Kane’s number one fan (fight me, fight me), I think this book is a very safe bet.
