Not only is it very unlikely that the AirTag will fall off this object, but it’s equally unlikely that the wire strap will get caught on something and break. Overall, this is a more thoughtfully designed holder than makes a good luggage tag.

Spigen’s Valentinus AirTag cover is one of the best alternatives to Apple’s own leather keychain that I’ve found. It has a very similar design to the first-party accessory (albeit made of synthetic leather), but costs much less at just $8. The tracking device fits into a perfectly shaped leather AirTag loop that snaps closed. The leather is spread slightly on both sides of the tracker, so there’s little chance of it popping out unexpectedly. It also comes with a carabiner-type key chain, so you can easily secure it to your belongings.

Caseology’s Vault has a more practical design and is made from durable, textured TPU. One side of the oval holder has an opening to insert the AirTag. The other side has a small opening for attaching the included carabiner, which is one of the best clips I’ve tested. It’s very basic as a carabiner, but better than a standard keychain. This is especially useful if you want to easily attach the AirTag to something other than keys, such as a backpack strap or a pet collar. Overall, the Caseology Vault is one of the most attractive holders I’ve tested, and it’s a solid choice for those who don’t need stainless steel or leather.

However, if you want to hang your tracker on the outside, you’ll need something a little larger and more flexible than a standard keychain. Belkin’s Secure Holder with Strap is a good option. It comes in a variety of colors and is affordable at just $13. The case opens into two parts, places the AirTag inside the circle, and twists and snaps the two halves together to secure them. You can then attach the AirTag to luggage handles, dog collars, water bottles, or other items. The strap feels quite sturdy.
While we appreciate the unique design of Belkin’s secure holder, it was difficult to twist open with the AirTag inside. But it’s good for daily use. AirTags aren’t going anywhere when they’re in a secure holder. We also liked that the edges were slightly raised for added protection against bumps and bumps.
