If you like the over-the-ear design of the Powerbeats Pro, Beats has a successor planned for next year. The company teased the new product on Instagram, featuring footage of Los Angeles Dodgers player Shohei Ohtani taking batting practice with the new earbuds. The short video doesn’t go into detailed specs or features, but it does give us a sneak peek at the updated design.
The Powerbeats Pro were great earbuds when they were introduced in 2019, offering great audio quality and useful features powered by the Apple H1 chip. But earbuds have evolved a lot in the last five years, and Beats was in dire need of an update if they wanted to keep the model afloat. From the video, it looks like the company has developed smaller earbuds that are better suited for sports, with thinner hooks for a better fit, and a smaller case that sits just outside the ear.
Here’s all we know for now: The Powerbeats Pro 2 are expected to launch in 2025, and Beats will likely be eager to get them in athletes’ ears before then.
