My fellow Trekkie, welcome to the best holiday of the year: Star Trek Day! The annual Star Trek Fandom celebration takes place annually on September 8th, the day the Star Trek: Original series debuted all over the United States (fun fact: the popular science fiction series created by Gene Roddenberry, who debuted in Canada on September 6th, two days before its US release).
To celebrate Star Trek Day 2025, Beat shares an associate managing editor Olly Kaplan’s San Diego Comics-CON 2025 interview with some of the creative minds behind IDW Publishing’s current Star Trek comics. While at SDCC 2025, Kaplan spoke with some of the final Star Series of IDW’s current Star Trek line writer Christopher Cantwell (Star Trek: Redshirt), Tilly Bridges and Susan Bridge (Star Trek: Voyager – Homecoming), Colin Kelly and Jackson Runging (Star Trek: The Final Star Series). The title, and my favourite franchise episodes that influenced them. It also includes the collaborative pitch of what appears to be a cooking manga with Neelix, the next best Star Trek story that comes out of IDW’s reign.
Watch the full interview with Cantwell, Kelly, Lanzing and The Bridges Duo on the YouTube Channel of Comics Beat. Check it out below!
Star Trek: Voyager by Tilly and Susan Bridges – Homecoming #1, along with Angel Hernandez’s art, Christopher Cantwell’s first two issues of Star Trek are now available. Star Trek: The last spaceship that Colin Kelly and Jackson Lansing wrote as the art of Adrian Bonniera will be on sale at a local comic shop on September 24, 2025.
