DC has revealed that Batman will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 26. Batman’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star will be dedicated next to those of TV’s Batman star Adam West and Batman co-creator Bob Kane.
DC President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee and DC Executive Vice President and General Manager Anne Depies will attend the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, September 26th at 11:30 a.m. PST. The ceremony will take place at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum, and Batman will receive his star in the motion picture category while dressed in character costume.
Batman will also be presented with the Guinness World Records title as the first superhero to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and there will be a special awards ceremony presented by official GWR adjudicator Michael Emprick.
This is not DC’s first record: Guinness World Records titles include Detective Comics as the longest-running comic book series (continuously published since 1938) and Batman being recognized as the most live-action comic book character in 2012, from the 1966 Batman feature film to The Dark Knight Rises. Guinness World Records also recognizes Batman as the character with the most Oscar winners playing a single superhero (George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck) and the most superhero films adapted into video games.
