DC has revealed that Batman will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 26. Batman’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star will be dedicated next to those of TV’s Batman star Adam West and Batman co-creator Bob Kane.

DC President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Jim Lee and DC Executive Vice President and General Manager Anne Depies will attend the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, September 26th at 11:30 a.m. PST. The ceremony will take place at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum, and Batman will receive his star in the motion picture category while dressed in character costume.

Batman will also be presented with the Guinness World Records title as the first superhero to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and there will be a special awards ceremony presented by official GWR adjudicator Michael Emprick.

This is not DC’s first record: Guinness World Records titles include Detective Comics as the longest-running comic book series (continuously published since 1938) and Batman being recognized as the most live-action comic book character in 2012, from the 1966 Batman feature film to The Dark Knight Rises. Guinness World Records also recognizes Batman as the character with the most Oscar winners playing a single superhero (George Clooney, Christian Bale, Ben Affleck) and the most superhero films adapted into video games.

To celebrate, in partnership with Funko, a day-long fan event will be held in conjunction with the Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on September 26th at Funko Hollywood (6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028). Jim Lee will participate in a special one-hour meet-and-greet and autograph session for Batman fans at Funko Hollywood from 11:30am to 12:30pm. Attendance at this special autograph session is limited to fans who receive a wristband.

Wristbands will be distributed to the first 100 fans who purchase Batman products at Funko Hollywood on Tuesday, September 24th, two days before the event. No outside products are permitted. Limit one wristband per person. Wristbands are available on a first come, first served basis. On the day of the signing session, fans can start lining up at 9am.

Warner Bros. Archives will also host a pop-up museum at Funko Hollywood featuring a selection of costumes and props from Batman’s film and television history. With authentic props, iconic costumes and a few surprises, audiences will have a rare opportunity to enjoy a piece of Batman’s cinematic history up close and personal. More details will be announced soon.

On Thursday, September 26, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce will honor Batman with the 2,790th star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame. Batman’s story of determination and courage has inspired people for generations around the world. He is the Avenger. He is the night. He is Batman.

Batman is known more for his intellect, skill and technological savvy than for any of his superpowers. One of the world’s most iconic characters, Batman has been portrayed in comics, television shows, animation and film since his first appearance in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and is beloved around the world. Batman was the first superhero character to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Batman’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star will be dedicated next to TV’s Batman star Adam West and Batman co-creator Bob Kane.
