Batman # 157
Writer: Chip ZDARSKY
Artist: Jorge Zimenes and Tony Daniel
Calarist: Tomeu Molly
Letter: Clayton Cowles
Cover Artist: Jorge Jimenez and Tomeu Molly
CHIP ZDARSKY and JORGEJIMENEZ are creative teams of the Batman Series ongoing DC since the summer of 2022. In this week’s Batman # 157, guest artists Tony Daniel, Colorist Tomeu Molly, Letter Clayton Cowins, ending the final story “The Dying City” and climbing the team to See The Team. 。 Dark Knight.
The five -part “The Dying City” does a lot of things at once. Pre -stories of the story were everything, from companies and political thrillers to murder mystery. However, this last problem is a superhero story, and as he did in his previous problem, ZDARSKY scripts provide beats of genres that are familiar in a satisfying way. Batman defeats the bad guys and saves the day, so nothing is especially groundbreaking here, but it’s not boring to understand how to do it. The airplane sequence of this issue may not reach the early height of ZDARSky and Jiménez, where Batman freely falls on the earth from the moon and survives, but is still a very satisfying event. 。 Jim Gordon also has a spotlight on the storyline, and ZDARSKY scriptwriter the effective conclusion between Batman and Gordon, who strengthens their friendship.
Both actions and introspection are especially fun, as if Jimenez and Daniel were alive. The color of TOMEU MOREY certainly helps the line work to add a visual consistent layer. The Dying City is a story with four artists on five problems that Carmine Di Giandomenico and JorgeFornés have paid for previous installments. Jimeness, a regular artist of Batman for six years, was a bit unfortunate that he could not draw his ultimate storyline, but that is the harshness of the monthly comic.
If this problem and the overall story line had weaknesses, I felt that I was very separated from the comprehensive driving between ZDARSKY and Jiménez. After the conclusions of Failsafe/Zur ARC and Absolute Power’s timed arc, the “The Dying City” begins with something that feels like a new extension release point from ZDARSKY and Jiménez, and introduces many large story drivers. I did. Ridler went straight, founded a Nigmatech, was taken over by Russians to the Owl court, introduced a star as a Batman foil, and killed the potential relationship between Mayor Nakano and Jim Gordon. It’s easy to imagine that all these pieces are slowly flesh in a few months and years, but in just five months they were all brought in and solved. “Hush 2” is difficult to blame this, but whether the running has been cut off to take the way to the release of the story next month, these five problems are filled out to record time. It is impossible to say whether it is. Before that, it starts before attracting attention. In any case, the “The Dying City” is just in a hurry for the driving that has been very strictly plotted and executed between the main comprehensive storyline, and the constantly changing artists will not help. It was.
Still, at the end of the day, Batman # 157 is a pretty solid superhero comic. Thanks to the Visuals, especially the Batman and the commander’s star fight sequence, the other in Dimenez’s work, it will increase the daily battle considerably. Impressive and very intense. Otherwise, it is a bit disappointing that the execution of this team, which was quite a star, will come out with such average precautions.

round up
Absolute Superman # 4 is a Royce -centered problem. Thanks to the arrival of Superman, the research reporters in her continue to wake up. It is clear that Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandeval are doing the most fun things in the concept, as each absolute title has been established for a few months. And always interesting. In this issue, there is no flashback sequence of Krypton, but I hope that it will be sad next month. JSA # 4 continued the storyline of the opening “Ragnarok” from the writer Jeff Remia, and guest artist Joey Basket has participated here. Lemire has been doing a great job focusing on each of the team’s individual members on these first four issues. This problem focuses on Beth Chapel Dr. Mid-Nite and is a wonderful intro for characters who may not be used to it. she. While the team has already been built, it is a team building and it is wonderful so far. Poison Ivy # 30 is G. It is a special flip book in the WILLOWWILSON and Marcio Takara series, following half of the problem and HR JANET. In both cases, Wilson and Takara have important conversations as a potential conflict between future storyline. This book is consistently wonderful. Justice League: Atom Project # 2 was probably a complete surprise and completely logical that Team ATOM probably opposed the most unexpected hostile you have ever seen. Ryan Palot, John Ridley, and Mike Parkins talk about wonderful stories here in interesting ways, tension, and do not linear way in a nonlinear way to raise many storytelling questions.
