There’s a new handheld gaming console in town, joining an increasingly crowded field. The Ayaneo 3 is the manufacturer’s latest portable device, following last year’s Ayaneo 2S. This Windows-based handheld appears to be an improvement over its predecessor in almost every major way.
Ayaneo 3 is available in several different versions. Buyers can choose between two processors: AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 or Ryzen 7 8840U. The HX 370 is a more powerful option, offering “an exceptional handheld gaming experience with AI support.” It’s worth noting that the 8840U should still be able to run many modern games, as the company says it’s a good choice for “gamers who prefer classic, powerful performance.”
You can also choose between two display options. There are models with a practical 7-inch LCD screen and models with a 7-inch OLED. The portable device is equipped with an OLED screen.

All models boast a new back button design to provide a “richer button combination experience.” The company says the design is “ergonomically optimized” so that human fingers can easily reach the back buttons. There’s also a trigger lock feature for enhanced “control in both popular and retro games.” Otherwise, the layout of front-facing buttons and diagonal joysticks is familiar.
The front-facing speakers have been updated here, with Ayaneo promising “immersive audio that exceeds expectations.” It was designed in “close collaboration with acoustic experts” and claims to offer “low rumble” and “depth and clarity.”
That’s all we know for now. Ayaneo says it will release more information soon, including new features and “further control innovations.” The price and release date have not yet been decided.
