Ahead of its participation at New York Comic Con 2024, Image Comics has announced the final one-shot from the Horizon Experiment Initiative. Horizon Experiment: Finders//Keepers #1, written by Vita Ayala, illustrated by Skyler Patridge, colored by Jason Wardy, and lettering and design by Becca Carey, will be released in January. and publisher.

Horizon Experiment is an initiative led by Pornsak Pichetshote that puts a new spin on popular genre and pop culture characters by introducing new and original protagonists from marginalized backgrounds. Ayala and Patridge’s Finders//Keepers is a “reverse Indiana Jones story” that follows Ines Guarúa, a Puerto Rican archeology graduate student, as she plans to return important cultural artifacts to the rainforest from which they were stolen from a museum. It is said that

But the stakes are high. According to the solicitation, “If she fails, the curse may bring about the destruction of Puerto Rico. This will lead to Guarua embarking on a quest to smuggle other artifacts from museums and institutions and return them to their native culture.” Let’s start.”

Like other one-shots in the series, Finders//Keepers also serves as a creator-owned “pilot” issue, meaning Ines may appear in more comics in the future. .

“I’ve always loved action-adventure stories, but most of the typical protagonists and traditional settings just didn’t work for someone like me,” Ayala said in the announcement. Ta. “Working on The Horizon Experiment, I thought I had found a way to open up that world to anyone who wanted to be a hero. It was one of the most fun projects of my career, and I wanted to create a world like this. I’m really happy to be joining such a great team!”

Patridge added, “‘Finders//Keepers’ is a dream project narratively, artistically and thematically, and Horizon Experiment is committed to telling this kind of story. It provided a much-needed platform. Rarely do projects come together so perfectly, and working with Vita, Pornsak, and Will to build and bring this world to life was satisfying. It was both inspiring and deeply inspiring. Add to that the incredible work of colorist Jason Wardy and letterer/designer Becca Carey, and it felt like I had just won the creative lottery. Masu.”

“Of all the projects announced as part of The Horizon Experiment, Finders//Keepers is the most anticipated, which doesn’t surprise me,” Picheshot said. “Nothing made me want to get back into the world of comics editing more than the chance to work with Vita Ayala, so I hope they are interested in joining. Skylar Partridge is a superstar on the rise, and with each new high-profile project taking her in exciting directions, I knew their collaboration would be something special. . They delivered and then some.”

Horizon Experiment was launched in The Manchurian in September and was written by Pitchshot and illustrated by Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson. Other issues in the series, published monthly, include Islamic exorcism horror The Sacred Damned by Sabir Pirzada and Michael Walsh, East African werewolf horror Moon Dogs by Tanariv Due and Kelsey Ramsey, J -Johnson’s horror comedy “Motherf*ckin’ Monsters.” Holtham and Michael Lee Harris.

The Horizon Experiment: Finders//Keepers #1 will be available at local comic shops and digitally on January 15, 2025.
