Awesome Games Done Quick 2025, a week-long speedrunning marathon, ended early Sunday morning, and organizers announced they raised a total of $2,556,305 for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
As expected, the event in Pittsburgh was a great mix of skill and silliness. There was a speedrun of Crazy Taxi featuring a live band. FunkopotamusWes played the piano during a run of New Super Mario Bros. Wii and used his head and feet to control the game via motion controls. And Dr. Doot did a speedrun of Elden Ring bosses using an electric saxophone. Yes, the saxophone made a much smaller doo-doo-doo sound.
The marathon ran continuously from January 5th to the 12th, so if you missed it, there are plenty of other great moments. You can watch it all on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.
AGDQ is one of Games Done Quick’s annual charity-focused events, with the next Back to Black event taking place in February. The event (February 6-9), which focuses on Black hosts and speedrunners, will raise money for racial justice nonprofit Race Forward. Over the years, Games Done Quick has raised more than $54 million for various charities, including Prevent Cancer Foundation and Médecins Sans Frontières. AGDQ also raised about $2.5 million during last year’s marathon.
