Of the many film/TV writers who have recently moved to cartoon, I am constantly excited about Matthew Arnold (Siberia and the Emerald City). Along with artist Ricardo Birchielli, Arnold released one of 2022’s more layered and compelling sci-fi releases, Eden. Now, when he works with artist Davide Gianfelice, Arnold adds foreign land to his still-existing comic bibliography. The foreigner published by Comixology follows Heron, a young prince, set to become king of the city-states of ancient Greek. However, when he is sent to prison island to live his days instead, he “unintentionally discovers a massive global plot.” And it’s a…
DC has revealed new details about the upcoming blockbuster event, DC KO, including a special “light-out” polybug-equipped foil variant program that will arrive on October 8th, 2025. Billed as a Battle of the Century, the series throws DC’s biggest fighter into a tournament where only one hero can win the title of King Omega. DC KO #1, written by Scott Snyder and art by Javi Fernández, begins the next chapter of Saga’s All, following last year’s DC All in Special #1. To mark the release, DC will release the “Light Out” Polybag Special Edition. Each polybag contains one randomly packed…

Marvel Comics debuted in a limited series on five islands, from author Wyatt Kennedy (X-Men: The Wedding Special) and artist Andy Pereira. First featured in Young Avengers, Wiccan has become one of Marvel’s most famous next generation heroes. Following the live-action appearance in Agatha, the character now embarks on a dark, mystical journey that pushes his power and legacy to their limits. The story comes after Wiccan and Hulkling’s recent roles in Jonathan Hickman’s Empire, where Hulkling is seriously injured and forced Wicca to the path of a…

It’s a tough life as a hero, but it’s even more difficult for a thief who wants to leave her alone to live her life. At least, if you ask Felicia Hardy, the black cat! This week, Marvel Rundown is G. The debut issue of her new series by Willow Wilson and Grev Melnikov brings the spotlight to Marvel’s best knot heroes. But that’s not all! There’s a review of regular lightning including Ghost Spider, Exceptional X-Men, Godzilla destroys Marvel’s universe, and all new Spider-Gwen, including Marvel All in One. As always, beats want to hear from you, a real…
At the request of the original announcement to escape, author Rick Remender boldly called the film the “perfect comic book.” After reading the first issue, I tend to agree with him. Escape is a war comic unlike anything we’ve seen for quite some time, as it forces us to consider the inhumane humanity that has come to innocent people during the war, so it does so with an instantly seductive cast of dogs, cats and other anthropomorphic animals. John Steinbeck once wrote, “All wars are symptomatic of human failure as thought animals.” By portraying the characters as animals rather than…
Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and deadlines all report that Tom King is writing a live-action Archie film. It will be produced for universal photography by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (in Spider-Man: Spider-Verse and its sequel), Emma Watts (former president of Paramount’s film group), and Archie Comics publisher Jon Goldwater. Details of the plot are currently unknown, but Lord and Miller said in a statement: “We are fans of all the repetitions of Archie, Veronica, Betty and the gang. When we heard him take over Tom King’s classic material, we quickly thought it would make sense as an event film…
Image credits: Jason Brown, MidLifeGamergeek.com It’s been a while since I read the troublemaker problem. This 11th issue shows why it’s a tragedy that, just a bit in the middle of the entire comic run, doesn’t remember as well as other 90’s comics. In this issue, the quest for chocolate milk leads to a comic book pursuit, which leads to a ton of confusion. Meanwhile, another troublemaker has a life-changing secret that tries to protect herself… This is a rather fun issue, but suffers from the questionable portrayal of POC, but combined with an exaggerated art style, the border of…
