Most comic book fans have solid ideas about what to buy each week when they come down to their local comic store. That being said, there’s still plenty to be enjoyed just by watching this week’s new release and taking the opportunity with a book that looks promising, entertaining, and scary. That’s where the cover comes in. A great image can make the difference between trying something new or saying “not this week.” In that spirit, here is the cover that caught our attention this week, and an entry from comic editor Chris Coplan. This is determined by the cover.…
One thing I personally get out of writing these reflections every week is revisiting some of my favorite comics. I think it’s given, but I mean more than just rereading my favorites. That’s a joy in itself. This gives us a new perspective on this aspect of reading. Sometimes there is more information and understanding over the decades, letting you know and reevaluate what you’ve read before. I realized something new that I had never seen before. You can see a variety of connections that you couldn’t do before. I’m currently reading the material surrounding it, so I can understand…

The 2025 Ignuts Award winners were announced Saturday night at the Small Press Expo in North Bethesda, Maryland. The ceremony, as always, was filled with heartfelt moments, with many screaming at the power of the community. SPX regular Anders Nilsen has won two awards. This is a philosophical exploration of great artists and Tongues Supplement #1’s outstanding comics, self-publishing supplement to the tongue, and mythology. The winners below are in bold. Excellent artist Sarah Aerith, The Worst Journey in the World (Iron Circus Comics) Fat JJ Lee, Death Fiddles and Death Dance (Self Public/Short Box) Cazimir Lee, Lowbit (Top Shelf…
Image credit: Pablo Raimondi/Jose Villarubia Ghost Boxes are in serious danger from the Estival, and the gloomy angels of the box may have finally realized how to stop them. Ghostbox comes to a slightly awkward end in this final issue. There are so many things kicking off in all aspects, and there are many things that feel like they’re coming out of nowhere to end up bringing the story together in a neat way. There is an obvious touch of Matt Smith’s photographs that we reference again in this issue. This is distracting. It’s all set for a sequel, but…
Welcome to another creepy edition of X-Men on Monday at X-Fans, AIPT! X-Men: Are you catching up with the coverage of Age of Revelation? So far, we’ve spoken with Jed Mackay, Erica Schultz, David Marquez and Tom Breboat. I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, I have to say, As someone who has been leading…
Image credit: Pablo Raimondi/Jose Villarubia Sabine’s plan for betrayal has come to fruition, and it appears no one has noticed that the unpleasant possessions of Yang’s body have happened. Meanwhile, outside of our world’s ghostbox, Chloe is running and finding a safe place she’s familiar to hide. At least until the Ghost Box powers up again! I’m in two minds about this issue with Ghostbox. On the one hand, you can go to a truly interesting place, but only after more expositions have been dumped to readers thanks to the newer and strange arrivals in the Ghost Box. It’s fun…
Welcome to the AIPT Comics Podcast! This week we’re going to full throttle with a very special interview. Kelly Niebell and Reilend Grant join us to talk about the final Gladiator. It’ll soon be live on Kickstarter and delve into what happens with legacy and comics. From the iconic Caesars Palace to his pop culture influence, we deepen our deepest in what makes Evel’s story perfect for comics and why this kickstarter keeps his spirit alive. But that’s not all. There are also the latest headlines for the industry, including Batman and the X-Men Sold Out, Dr. Doom’s Fall, X-Men…
Image credit: Pablo Raimondi/Jose Villarubia After the death of the police officer she is responsible for, Chloe runs alongside the Ghostbox. Inside the box itself, her sister is shown such a sight, but not everyone is what they see in the universe contained within the box. Despite the long sequence of expos in this issue, it remains very entertaining, with plenty of suspense in both the real world and the events unfolding within the box. For one, there is a truly neat and unsettling twist, and writer Mike Carrey delivered it in a very shocking way, and was very competently…
Neon Ichiban, the leading new player in the digital comic space, has launched its beta tester this week. The website run by comic publisher DSTLRY is set up not only as a digital comic retailer, but also as a digital comic hub with additional perks designed to emulate digital signatures. Co-founded by Comixology veteran David Steinberger, Dstlry has been making waves since its founding, landing several celebrities for an interesting project. Neon Ichiban takes them away from indie publishers and into the realm of becoming service providers that exist across the comics market. Neon Ichiban already has business with many…
