Traditionally, the biggest AR/VR events of the year have gone by two names: Oculus Connect and Facebook Connect. But whatever the name, Meta’s fall event is the main showcase for the company’s latest and greatest achievements in the virtual and mixed reality space. Just like last year, the biggest news coming out of Meta Connect 2024 can be predicted by just two acronyms: AI and AR.Like other big tech companies this year, Meta will be eager to show how it will remain relevant in an AI-driven future. And seven months after the launch of Apple’s Vision Pro, which coincided with…

The Toxic Avenger has had a bigger impact on the comics world than people realize, and a lot of that comes from its conception in New Jersey in the ’80s. Thanks to the cult status of the films made by Troma, the B-movie studio that launched the career of James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, DC Films), and the comic book boom of the ’90s, the time was perfect for The Toxic Avenger to make a comeback, so its success on AHOY shouldn’t be a surprise, especially for someone who grew up in New Jersey during that time. To celebrate,…

Oni Press is releasing the highly anticipated debut, CALAVERA, PI. Created by acclaimed cartoonist Marco Finnegan (Morning Star, Night People), the comic is released just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month and is a stylish take on the mystery genre. “The story begins in Los Angeles, where the Roaring Twenties are at their height, jazz is taking over the clubs, Hollywood starlets are the talk of the town, and the Latin lover mystique is the latest craze,” said Finnegan when asked to describe the series. “At its center is private investigator Juan Calavera, the City of Angels’ best detective. Infographics are a technological innovation that has revolutionized the news industry — in this case, for the better. The best infographics help you visualize difficult concepts or illustrate data that may seem too abstract. But like any tool, infographics can sometimes be overused and applied to topics that aren’t worth creating just because they’re trendy and look cool.Marvel Super Graphics: A Visual Guide to the Marvel Comics Universe, published by Chronicle Books, falls into the latter category, but is that necessarily a negative?Stripped down to its essentials, Marvel Super Graphics can be thought of as a visually beautiful, yet discursive,…
