As first reported by The Verge, Reddit just changed its rules so that moderators of a subreddit will need admin approval to switch from public to private. Many see this as an attempt to stifle protests across the site, as these requests must be approved by Reddit staff. There’s no way to make multiple subreddits private at once without Reddit taking control of the levers. The company has a small note on its support page that says, “If you wish to change the type of community after it has been created, you must submit a request.” This page does not provide…

There are two universal truths in today’s rapidly changing comics industry. The first is that Dog Man is the defining comic of our time. Second, more people are reading manga and webtoons (aka vertically scrolling comics) than ever before. Therefore, we at Comics Beat have decided to embark on a new venture called Beat’s Bizarre Adventure. Every two weeks, three writers recommend their favorite books and series from Japan, Korea, and other countries. This week, we’re introducing a vertically scrolling re-edit of a classic action series, a comic adaptation of an excellent boys’ love web novel, and (again) Osamu Tezuka.…

It was virtually identical to ASUS’ laptops from 10 years ago (although the screen bezels were slimmer). Not so with the Zenbook S14. Made from a material ASUS calls “Cera Aluminum,” you’ll be impressed the moment you open the lid and touch it. As the name suggests, it’s a combination of ceramic and aluminum, giving it an almost eerie feel, somewhere between high-grade plastic and smooth metal.…

If you purchase or lease a Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit at retail between October 1st and January 2nd, the automaker will send a technician for free installation. Sometimes I do. However, Ford may choose to extend it. If successful, run the program. (Ford Pro fleet customers will receive a commercial charging cash incentive instead.)According to The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern, those who take up the offer will receive a Level 2 charger in their home. The Ford Charge Station Pro costs $1,310,…

Perhaps I wax lyrical not only about Final Fight, Capcom’s 1989 arcade title, which has been my favorite game ever since its release, but also about the comic book version of this video game being developed by UDON. You’ve probably seen me talk about it. If you haven’t yet, check out my review of issue 1. And now, the first issue is officially available for free download as a PDF from publisher UDON Studios. Click here. Granted, it doesn’t have the same tactile feel as holding the comic’s stunning action in your hands, but if you want to at least…

A fantastic image can make the difference between trying something new or saying, “Nah, not this week.”In that spirit, here are the covers that captured our attention this week, with entries from comics editor Chris Coplan.
