Ecobee integrates smart locks into its app. Although the company doesn’t make its own smart locks, you can now control Wi-Fi-enabled smart locks at Yale and August using the Ecobee app. This feature could prevent people from entering your room by switching apps and ringing your smart doorbell. NASA has unveiled a prototype telescope for a new gravitational wave detection mission in space. The telescope is part of the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission led by the European Space Agency (NSA) in partnership with NASA.The goal of the LISA mission is to place three spacecraft in a triangular orbit about 1.6 million miles on each side. OpenAI and Microsoft are funding projects to bring more AI tools to newsrooms. The pair will award grants of up to $10 million to Chicago Public Media, the Minnesota Star Tribune, Newsday (Long Island, New York), the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Seattle Times. Beware of online sellers who think there is nothing wrong with publishing fake reviews from fabricated customers. Such behavior is no longer allowed. The federal government’s ban on fake online reviews has gone into effect.The Federal Trade Commission issued final rules on the buying and selling of online reviews in August, effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register. Google has announced that it is introducing a series of safety features to Messages. Enhanced fraud detection around potentially fraudulent texts. The company says the update “improves analysis of fraudulent texts.” Currently, the tool prioritizes package delivery and recruitment scams.If Google Messages suspects a scam, it will move the message to your spam folder or issue a warning. This app uses on-device machine learning models to detect these scams. This means your conversations will remain private. Stable Diffusion, an open source alternative to AI image generators like Midjourney and DALL-E, has been updated to version 3.5. The new model attempts to right some of the wrongs (that may be an understatement) of the widely acclaimed Stable Diffusion 3 Medium.
