European investigators believe a Chinese-owned merchant ship deliberately dragged its anchor to disrupt two undersea communications cables that were severed in the Baltic Sea earlier this month. However, Western law enforcement and intelligence officials told the Wall Street Journal they do not believe the Chinese government was involved. The investigation is instead focused on whether Russian intelligence persuaded the captain to carry out the operation. For the past week, NATO warships from Denmark, Germany and Sweden have surrounded the 225-metre-long Yipen 3. The ship’s owner, China’s Ningbo Yipen Shipping, is reportedly cooperating with investigators. Shippers allowed merchant ships to anchor in…
It’s been over a minute since new Sega Genesis classics hit the Nintendo Switch’s online library, but you can finally get your hands on some today. The Switch Online Expansion Pack brings frenetic platformer VectorMan, run-and-gunner Wolf of the Battlefield: MERCS, and the absolutely fantastic ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron to the Switch’s classic games library.BlueSky Software’s VectorMan is a 2D platformer with impressive graphics for its time, but it’s often overlooked in the long corridor of Sega Genesis heritage. The main character is created when one of the supervisor robots named Warhead is left on a resource-ravaged…
satan’s flock Screenplay: Steve NilesIllustrator: Piotr KowalskiColorist: Laverne KinjeskiAuthor: Nate PekosPublisher: Dark Horse Comics Remember when you were a kid and went to the video store with your parents? If you were like me, you’d sprint to the horror section the moment you walked in. There I watched my favorite movies, movies I’ve already seen 100 times, and movies I’ll see 100 more times. But then I’ll stop. I saw a forbidden movie out of the corner of my eye. It was the kind of thing my parents wouldn’t let me borrow because it was too gory, taboo, or (worse)…

Screenwriters Chris Condon (“That Texas Blood”) and John Arcudi (“BPRD”) team up with artists Martin Morazzo (“The Ice Cream Man”) and Sean McManus (“Fables”) Together, we deliver a story that goes full throttle with the creepiness you’ve come to expect from a Creepshow story.imageFirst up is “The Murder Variant” by Condon and Morazzo. Every geek can attest to wanting to steal the holy grail deal of comic books. And every geek out there probably has at least one…
Jack Kirby’s Eternals wasn’t necessarily a huge hit after the legend returned to Marvel in the late 1970s. His “Fourth World” series also wasn’t doing very well at DC a few years ago (though a lot of editorial interference contributed to its debacle). Eternals isn’t really considered a classic these days. Despite Jack Kirby’s most singular vision for Marvel, that quality never took hold. Back issues of this series are still available at reasonable prices. For an original brainchild of Jack Kirby, this is rather surprising. The book lasted until the tragic 19th issue. Weirdly Weird Problem: The Unimind is not…

There are no pictures or stories in the slightly dark world in which “A Canary Named Star” is set. A woman named Chell suffers a painful loss and, worse, is held responsible for this tragic incident. Years later, Chell decides to tell her side of the story, but her past comes back to haunt her. This is a surprisingly moving and emotional story that weaves beautifully told and brightly colored mythology into the more subdued style of Chell’s overall story. RH Stewart provides some really great artwork, both in the more colorful fantasy sequences and the darker scenes within the…
