When Justice Warriors: Vote Harder crossed my desk right after the election, it might not have been the right time to read it. The shock of the election results hit me hard, and I desperately wanted to crawl into a hole and escape the oncoming barrage of debate. I knew I was going to start winding down, but it all left me feeling despised and exhausted. The satire about a troubled election, no matter how absurd and extreme Justice Warriors is, felt counterproductive to my urge to bury my head in the sand.At best, satire is not meant to soothe societal…
Bluesky has published an update that fixes one important issue that could lead to impersonation on the decentralized social network. From now on, Bluesky will no longer release your old .bsky.social username if you use your own domain to verify your identity on the platform. Previously, once you passed the verification process, your original .bsky.social name was available again. This means that if you don’t want an imposter to steal your old handle, you’ll need to sign up again to protect it.The social network has been working to resolve verification issues that became a major issue after the service received…

Clickbait videos are always annoying, but sometimes they can be downright harmful. YouTube has vowed to crack down on “egregious clickbait” on its website, particularly those that cover or pretend to cover breaking news or current events. The website describes bad clickbait as “a video whose title or thumbnail promises something to the viewer that the video itself cannot.”YouTube says these videos leave viewers “feeling deceived, frustrated, or even misled” when they visit the website seeking truthful and timely information about important issues. . If you’ve ever seen a clickbait video, you’ll know that’s definitely true. You may have trained…
I hate cleaning bathrooms, especially showers and bathtubs. It’s my least favorite chore for several reasons. First, my house doesn’t have a particularly large bathroom, so I have to either bend into a pretzel position or take a shower to effectively clean inside the shower. I’ve also tried many different types of cleaners, but none of them were able to do the job I liked when used with a sponge and a little (a lot) of elbow grease. But everything changed when I purchased this Leebein electric spin scrubber just a month ago. I don’t know what took me so…
It’s time for the Fantastic Five to shout out the best comics of the week! DC is on a roll again this week, sweeping the top five comics of the week. Let’s take a look at the book!Best comics of the week: December 18, 2024#5: Jenny Sparks #5Jenny Sparks #5 isn’t afraid to say things, even if sometimes wearing a cape or tights can confuse what she says. On the plus side, Jeff Spokes gets better and better, using Dutch angles to make the walking dialogue scenes with canted shots of the characters dynamic. I’d love to see him pair…
This week, we reflect on the hellish year of 2024 and consider where we go from here. This year started off with a lot of hype about artificial intelligence, but that was tempered by seeing how useless many AI features are. It’s also clear that many companies, including Microsoft and Apple, are trying to impose half-baked AI concepts on users. Looking ahead, we can expect a tough few years for the technology industry (not to mention the world at large).Listen below or subscribe on your favorite podcast app. If you have any suggestions or topics you’d like us to cover…
Last week, TechCrunch reported that Google allegedly told contractors evaluating Gemini not to skip any prompts, regardless of their expertise, based on internal guidance seen by the company.Contractors are currently being told not to skip prompts that “require specialized subject matter knowledge” and to “assess the parts of the prompt that they understand,” which means they have no knowledge. A note has been added that this is not the field in which it is held. You can skip it if it’s missing much of the information or contains harmful content.Google provided a statement to Engadget, saying the evaluators “perform a…
Almost a year ago, I was prompted to look for another budgeting app. Intuit, parent company of Mint, the budgeting app I had been using for a long time, shut down the service in March 2024. The company encouraged Mint users to migrate to its other financial app, Credit Karma, but I found it to be a poor Mint replacement after trying it out. That sent me searching elsewhere to find an app to track all of my financial accounts, monitor my credit score, track spending and set goals like building a rainy-day fund and paying down my mortgage faster. If…
Regular laptops and gaming laptops still exist, but the line that separates them has almost disappeared.
