Welcome to the Maynard #2, written by James Robinson and illustrated by J. Bone and Ian Herring, follows Pippin (Pip) Dale as a bellboy at the ultra-swanky Maynard Hotel. The adventure continues. It is a destination where magical beings of all kinds come to party and relax during their travels. The book feels like a riff on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, only with Pip, a young, energetic woman with an insatiable curiosity, instead of two precocious boys as the main characters. be.Pip’s design by artist J. Bone is impeccable, with a pixie haircut and an endless variety…
With the new Zootopia movie set to be released later this year, it’s the perfect time for the comic world to be reminded of just how great this property is. Zootopia is a great read for all ages, with clever visuals that adults will enjoy as well. It also serves as a reminder that the world-building in this anthropomorphic adventure series is excellent. As a fan of the original film, which somehow celebrated its 9th anniversary in March of this year, it’s safe to say that the creative team understands their task. The characters speak and act like themselves, the city…
I’ve commented before that delays are often fatal to a series. “Kill All Immortals” in particular has been really hot and bubbling since the fourth issue in October. Not only did we discover the source of Viking immortality, but Frey made some terrible sacrifices in preparation for his final showdown with his family. So will having to wait several months be a hindrance to this deep story of family drama and end-of-life capitalism? Or will the power and intrigue of the Vikings make just a few months a long lunch? In the end, we got a mostly strong finale and maybe…
Throughout the history of comics, there have been creative partnerships that have produced legendary stories. Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, and Steve Ditko formed the foundation of the Marvel Universe. Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly put a unique spin on the DC icon with JLA: Earth-2 and All-Star Superman. Charles Soule and Ryan Browne definitely have one of those partnerships, and The Lucky Devils #1 only solidifies it.Lucky Devils centers around a day in the life of two seemingly ordinary people living in Chicago: Cam, a philosophy professor, and Starr, a nurse. It looks like they’re both having the worst day…
Oni Press brought back EC Comics last year with a new horror and sci-fi anthology. Now, it’s time for this storied label to grow even further with EC Cruel Kingdom. The new dark fantasy anthology is all about fantasy and its tropes, and the first edition includes a bit of science fiction. A collection of four stories, EC Cruel Kingdom features some of the best creators in comics in an outstanding first issue.First up is “Blood of the Robo King” by Greg Pak and Leomac. The story begins perfectly with a wooden village straight out of the earliest days of…
In a sea of smartphone game controllers with thick grips, obtrusive analog sticks, and stiff backplates, Ohsnap’s MCON stands out. It’s a gamepad that basically turns any phone into a supercharged Xperia Play, complete with a Hall-effect joystick, a silent button, and a handle that extends from the base. There’s also a bumper-style trigger and an actual bumper. Attaching the MCON to the back of your phone creates a slightly chunky but uniform profile that fits smoothly into your pocket. When you’re ready to start playing, your phone pops up from your gamepad with a satisfying flick.MCON communicates with your…
Qualcomm has launched a new platform that makes Copilot+ PC available to more people. Snapdragon X is the latest addition to the brand’s Snapdragon The company says it can run up to 163% faster than comparable platforms from competitors, its neural processing units can perform AI tasks more efficiently on the device, and it delivers long battery life (even days). I am.It appears that over 60 computer models based on this platform are already being developed and produced by various manufacturers, including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. These companies launched the first batch of Snapdragon X products earlier this…
NVIDIA will release native GeForce NOW apps on Steam Deck and browser versions on major mixed reality headsets, including Apple Vision Pro, Meta Quest 3 and 3S, the company announced at CES 2025. This will bring more than 2,100 NVIDIA titles to these devices, including two AAA Microsoft games released in late 2025.Valve’s Steam Deck already offered limited beta support for GeForce NOW via the Chrome browser and automated scripts. The native version features a cloud-based GeForce RTX gaming rig for improved performance at up to 4K 60p resolution with HDR when connected to your TV. Users get the same…
Satechi announced the Mac Mini M4 Stand & Hub with SSD Enclosure at CES 2025, and we got to see it. Perhaps the most appealing feature is the notch, which makes it easier to access the power button on small PCs. The stand lifts your Mac Mini off your desk, but leaves a recessed space to reach the power button at the bottom of the back. This awkward location was one of the few drawbacks we had with the Mac Mini M4 when we reviewed the computer. Amy Skolheim/EngadgetOn the front of the hub are USB-A 3.2 and 2.0 ports,…
One of my favorite things about CES is finding ridiculous one-off and concept products that may never go into full production. At CES 2025, MSI created a custom CPU cooler with a built-in turntable that was really fun.The water block’s official name is Mag Coreliquid A13 Concept, but the name doesn’t really matter as MSI has said it has no plans to sell it as an actual retail device. Not only does that mean you can’t have a fun little rotating table inside your desktop, but in a way it’s a shame because the cooler the A13 is based on,…
