Courtesy of Dark Horse Comics, The Beat is able to reveal that publishers will release a print version of Dan Schkade’s hit webtoon series Lavender Jack next year. Written, drawn and drawn by Schkade, with Jen Manly Lee’s colours and logo designs by Dylan Todd, Lavender Jack is the story of a retro vigilante group that took place in 2026, running from 2018 to 2022. Lavender Jack Vol. 1. Cover art by Dan Shukade and Jen Manly Lee The Gallery town is a place of science, diversity and wealth at the dawn of the 20th century. But deep inside is…
In the 10th article in Venom Unleashed, we explored all the symbiotes, an ongoing column for AIPT, and editor Jordan D. White dropped a particularly wild nugget of Marvel history that we never print. “At the time I carried out the issues with Gwenpool and Gwen Stacy and Marvel Legacy,” White revealed. “The pool is spending time going back in time and trying to keep Stacey from sleeping with Norman Osborne.” Yes, that Norman Osborne storyline. What exploded with the 2004 Spider-Man release: J. The crimes by Michael Strakinski and Mike De Dedato Jr. have been revealed that Gwen Stacey…
In the previous issue of Star Wars: Legacy of Vader, I stated that one of the things I got out of the problem was a revelation that Kyloren was continuing to hunt more Jedi who survived Order 66. It turns out that Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #7 should not have doubted Charles Sueur. Grandea actually serves as an answer to questions that go beyond the hearts of Star Wars fans. How can Jedi survive in the rise of the Galactic Empire? The way Soule deals with this is amazing and now it can expand on Jedi staple, Jedi Mind…
The world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is filled with truly unique characters who can carry their own comics, with Casey Jones at the top of the list. The vigilante, who wears hockey masks and swings sports gear, has been a fan favorite since their debut 30 years ago. A heat wave grabbed New York City, leading to an increase in crime, urging Casey to tie him down to masks and gear to protect the streets of the Big Apple. However, he still deals with the injury suffered by Mayor Hail Hail, who shot him dead in the teenage mutant…
Less than five months later, Boundless Publishing (the successor to crowdfunding publisher Unbound) collapsed. The British company filed for bankruptcy on August 1, and threatened legal action to return their rights to work, after a catastrophic period that infuriated the author and denied royalties. Unbound, also known as United’s Author Publishing, was released in 2011 by authors John Michinson, Justin Pollard and Dunkiran during the crowdfunding boom (released in 2009). The premise was to serve the author directly and bridge the gap between self-publishing and traditional distribution. The author crowdfunds ongoing titles on the platform, providing exclusive updates and bonuses…
Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan have the real knack for reaching almost childlike horror in primal. This is the talent they unfolded at last year’s Kill Your Darlings, and I felt that it would hit a similar creepy sweet spot as soon as their latest work was announced. Blink and you miss it mainly because they focus on setting the tone and dropping us on an ongoing journey. We get a big touch with the hero, even if we don’t really know what she’s looking for in this early stage. We know that she’s been home a long time…
As previously announced, the fan favorite TMNT in support of Casey Jones will be headlined next month by the creative team of author Alex Paknadel and artist Amankai Nahuelpan. As readers who are lagging behind the current development of the IDW series are familiar with the characters, the characters were filmed, filmed and hospitalized on the ongoing TMNT series. The now-recovered series continues with Casey as he bumps into the street where he returns to his roots and does everything he can to protect the people of New York City. Ahead of the release of the first issue next month,…
At this point, the zombie story has more than the actual earthly corpses to actually revive. But we keep skimming through the cemetery regardless of new offerings, some of which are derivative excuses for undead cannibalism, but always gems rise from the ground. They are often books, films, comics, etc. that respect the pure humanity of the world, which our lives and dignity can very easily be taken from us by covering our teeth. One such title already shuffled in our minds is that everything is dead and dying from writer Tate Blombar (Batgirl) and artist Jacob Phillips (New Bern).…
France’s Angleme Festival (FIBD) is one of the most important calendar events in global comics – has been immersed in a growing crisis since January. Following growing pressure from the authors and publisher groups, the festival’s owner Association Fibd has announced a call for proposals from alternative organization partners to set the widely unpopular Franck Bondoux and his company 9e Art+ for an October deadline. Angouleme 2025 – ©Dean Simons Started in 1974, Angoulême is one of the world’s largest comic events (only beats Japanese Comiket and Italian Lucca). Today, the event in late January attracts over 250,000 visitors to…
Rick Remender (The Scumbag, Grommets) and Kieron Dwyer (Sea of Red, Captain America) are bringing back their chaotic skatepunk creator Billy Billy in their limited edition 25th anniversary hardcover this December. This black and white deluxe edition collects a wealth of bonus material, including the full run of the originals of anarchic cult comics, as well as content you’ve never seen before and a brand new second half by Remender written in late-night nostalgia haze. First published in 1999, Black Heart Billy follows a robot head, deep hatred for authority, and a rebellious skatepunk with filters. As Mad Nazi scientists…
