In February, there was the great news that action star Scott Adkins would be starring in Kickboxer: Armageddon, the final installment in the reboot of the hit classic martial arts action movie, playing the villain opposite fellow franchise star Alain Moussi. The news broke along with an announcement that filming would begin in April of this year, but now it’s September and nothing has been heard since. Fans around the world, including myself, are wondering what’s going on and if the movie is even happening.
Now, this morning, news broke that Logothetis and friends have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in an effort to officially involve fans in the production of the film while at the same time maintaining a production structure independent of studio interference. Logothetis and Moussi announced the effort on social media. The initial goal is $250,000, and the funds will be used to make the film even better, supporting various aspects of the production, including time, securing the right cast and crew, using the best equipment, securing the best locations and sets, and of course, creating the best next-gen action imaginable, featuring the very best in terms of unparalleled on-screen combat and action design.
Logothetis has prepared a special message for Kickboxer’s 350 million+ fans around the world, which you can check out below on the official Kickstarter page.
Logothetis also prepared a special video message for fans, detailing his intentions to create the best kickboxer entry imaginable, without compromising his vision or tricking fans with his biggest selling point: the action. Check it out below!
As for the plot, which Moussi spoke about in an official interview for the second film, Kickboxer: Retaliation, here’s the synopsis for the third movie: When Kurt Sloan’s family is killed by an assassin who is after him, he travels the world in search of revenge, culminating in an assassin training facility led by the enigmatic leader, Cesare. Packed with martial arts action and paying homage to the rich history of martial arts films, Armageddon will conclude the trilogy with a worthy blockbuster for the Kickboxer franchise and its millions of fans around the world.
Check out what Moussi had to say when we chatted below!
Oh, about the third movie, now that I’ve read the first draft of the script, I have to say that this is by far the best script I’ve ever read of the three Kickboxer movies, from the beginning. The action is ramped up, the characters are ramped up, it’s really cool. Kurt Sloan’s journey is really interesting, and it’s similar to my journey as an actor. I still consider myself a complete rookie. I’m always learning as an actor, I’m always training, so I feel like the character is evolving like my evolution as an actor. In the first movie, he didn’t ask me much in terms of acting. Dimitri told me he wanted me to be as natural as possible. He said he wanted to put a lot of me into this role. In the second movie, there’s a little more trauma. He ends up in a prison in Thailand, and a lot more happens there. For me, because of my experience and my training, I have a lot more to offer in the second movie. Now, in the third movie, Kurt Sloan has to go to a deeper, darker world. That’s where he’s heading right now. Bad things happen, but instead of being drawn into this world, he decides to go back to that world and try to finish it. That’s where the story is going. He’s going to a very dark place because he needs to put an end to everything that’s been done to him. I don’t know exactly what that is (laughs), but that’s where the story is going. He goes on a rampage, attacking person after person, to find who’s responsible and put an end to it. So, my look is completely different now. I’ve grown my hair out, I’ve grown a beard, and that’s all for Kickboxer 3. This movie is going in a completely different direction than the first two, which is great.
Now, in terms of action, we know what the audience likes, so we want to deliver a better version, and that’s exactly what we’re working on right now. As for Wonder, which I mentioned earlier, you’re going to see a crazy, excited Wonder in this movie. As for the final battle and the stakes, we’re working on it completely crazy, and it’s going to be great. You know, in a trilogy, when you get to the third movie, you often look back at things about the first movie, and that’s definitely happened in a great way in this movie. Story-wise, Kurt comes full circle and comes back, which I think will delight the audience. As I said, our goal was to surpass the first movie and surpass ourselves. And we’re trying to do that again in the third movie. We want to surpass what we did in Revenge and Retribution, but we’re not going to make the mistake of going all out on steroids. We want to make a cooler, newer version of what we did in the second movie.
The facial expression that Moussi referred to in his statement has been circulating online for several years, depicting a much more violent looking Kurt Sloan, ready to commit savage acts when it comes to taking down those responsible for the death of his family.
Of course, everyone who backs the project will receive some pretty sweet perks, from shirts and caps to a cast list and producer credits. You’ll also receive a digital copy of the finished Kickboxer Armageddon, as well as physical media packs of the first two films. For a full list of perks and prices, click here.
After decades of experience as a stuntman and double-duty for some of Hollywood’s best stuntmen, Moursi has established himself as a top-tier action star in recent years. In addition to the Kickboxer films, Moursi has also starred in the sci-fi action thriller Jiu Jitsu and the live-action adaptation of the hit graphic novel King of Killers. Both films showcased Moursi’s unique skills in extreme action design and execution on film.
With Logothetis and crew starting this campaign, we’re in a wait-and-see position to see how all of this plays out, including who will be joining the cast of Moussi and what the finished film will look like. As of this writing, Adkins is still involved with the film, his character Cesare is still the main antagonist, and his IMDb page includes other notable cast members, but that could change soon, so stay tuned with Lock N Load. Adkins staying involved bodes well for the film as we all hope to see two of the best in the business face off in a showdown that will break bones and limbs on screen.
In the meantime, check out this teaser video that Logothetis created a while back, which highlights Thrawn’s new look as well as revisiting other aspects of the first two films: The final installment in the Kickboxer series promises to be the most thrilling and extreme yet, so it’s time to get totally dark and barbaric.

The time is now! Kickboxer fans unite! Let’s create the greatest finale ever!
