Apple will debut a new operating system called homeOS along with its long-rumored smart displays, with the first displays expected to arrive as early as 2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Garman. Reports of HomePod-like devices with displays have been swirling for more than a year, and Garman just announced this summer that Apple is working on a tabletop smart display with a robotic arm that tilts and rotates the screen for better viewing. He said he was. Garman said in his latest report that two versions are in development. One is a low-end display that offers basic features like FaceTime and smart home control, and the other is a high-end robot version that costs more than $1,000.
A cheaper version will reportedly arrive first, followed by a higher-end display, likely next year. Garman previously said robotic smart displays could be launched as early as 2026. But you don’t have to wait for the premium model to get a taste of Apple’s vision for home AI. Gurman said Apple Intelligence will be a key part of the experience on both devices. He points out that the new homeOS is based on Apple TV’s tvOS.
