Apple has a history of eye-popping price tags, but the company is reaching new heights with products that aren’t even gadgets. After Apple Music released its list of the 100 greatest albums of all time earlier this year, the streaming service is releasing a companion coffee table book. Get your copy of 1 of 1,500 for $450.
I think this kind of attempt to rank and quantify art is interesting because music is inherently subjective and personal. But people love to discuss their artistic opinions, so if that’s your jam, there’s plenty to dig into with Apple Music ratings. (And before you ask, the top spot was claimed by Lauryn Hill’s Miseducation.) This special countdown features “Maren Morris, Pharrell Williams, J. Balvin, Charli XCX, Mark Hops, Honey Dijon, Near Archives, and songwriters, producers, and industry experts,” the book list reads.
This limited edition hardcover is sure to be very beautiful, and the liner notes that break down each entry are probably very insightful. But I also wonder who would go out of their way to buy one. If you’re one of the 1,500 applicants, the book will ship in January.
