Season 2 of the hit sci-fi drama Severance will finally premiere on January 17th. But Apple shocked us by removing the first eight minutes of the season. It’s been almost three years since Season 1 ended, so this is the perfect little holiday gift.
Check out an exclusive preview in the Bonus Content section of the Retirement page in the Apple TV+ app. There are no spoilers here, but the excerpt touches on the aftermath of season 1’s events and may even touch on its surprising cliffhanger.
For the uninitiated, Severance is a science fiction work about work-life balance in which certain employees of a shadowy company “separate” their professional selves from their regular selves. The result is a harrowing and sometimes hilarious treatise on human identity and the lengths to which corporate overlords will go to make money. It’s very good. More than anything? Newbies don’t have to wait three full years to watch season two.
Apple TV+ also just posted a bunch of images on social media that heavily hint at its plans for a free weekend for non-subscribers scheduled for January 4th and 5th. The images are all labeled with slogans such as “See for yourself” and “.” Save the date. ”
If true, this would be a great way to check out Apple’s great sci-fi originals without committing to a subscription. The streamer has become the de facto home of science fiction in recent years, with standout shows like Severance, Silo, Foundation, and For All Mankind, among others.
