Apple Intelligence will be rolling out at a fairly slow pace, with Apple gradually adding new features and support for more languages over the coming months. The company has now confirmed support for several more languages, with Apple Intelligence expected to be available in German, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Vietnamese in 2025. This is in addition to previously announced support for Chinese, French, Japanese, and Spanish.
Apple will make Apple Intelligence available in English first in the US when it releases iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1 and macOS Sequoia 15.1 in October, so if you buy an iPhone 16 when Apple’s latest smartphone lineup ships on Friday, you won’t get access to the tool right away.
The tool will be available in English in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK in December. Apple plans to launch the English version in India and Singapore next year. Support for other languages will be announced at a later date.
However, there’s one important thing to note about the rollout of Apple Intelligence: Apple isn’t planning on making the tool widely available in the European Union or mainland China anytime soon, so while Apple Intelligence will be available in Portuguese and French, you might not necessarily be able to use it while you’re in Portugal or France.
“Apple Intelligence won’t work if you currently live in the EU and your Apple ID country/region is also in the EU,” Apple says in a support article. “If you travel outside the EU, Apple Intelligence will work if your device language and Siri language are set to a supported language.”
Additionally, Apple Intelligence currently doesn’t work on phones purchased in mainland China, and people traveling to China with iPhones purchased elsewhere can’t access the tool if their Apple ID’s country/region is set to mainland China.
