Marvel has resumed the door to one of the most infamous alternative reality. The X-Men of Apocalypse Alpha #1, which landed this week, launched six stories on its 30th anniversary, revisiting the classic Age Apocalypse. Written by the original architect Jeph Loeb and brought to life by Simone Di Meo, the series sends Magneto’s Ragtag Band of War Wheary X-Men collides into the main Marvel universe for a desperate battle to keep their presence.
The debut issue sold out quickly, and Marvel announced that its second printing will arrive on October 22nd. This reprint will highlight the fresh take of the variant cover by Reinil Francis Yu and Joe Madilaya.
First unleashed in the 1990s, Age of Apocalypse rethinks the X-Men in a world where Charles Xavier was killed and the Apocalypse reigned the highest rule. The main timeline has recovered, but the universe endured – and now its survivors are back and clashing with their counterparts in the story that shapes the fate of both teams.
“I’m so excited to hear that the X-Men from Apocalypse Alpha #1 will be going for a second printing with a cover from Leinil Francis Yu and Joe Madureira!” Roeb said. “One more, this is the only time Simone Di Meo’s incredible artistry made his X-Men debut. We’ll grab this as this is the beginning of an epic adventure with a whole new, completely different X-Men of Apocalypse!”
