Invader Comics has announced a new Kickstarter campaign for the Animal Trade Library edition by author Keith Foster and artist Nico Miérez. Set in the Pacific Northwest, the story explores the fallout of a mutagenic virus that infects and revives the population of dead animals in the region, focusing specifically on what happens to humans when they face this new and horrifying threat.
The animals follow two government officials who are forced to understand why the animals are attracting humans, why the outbreak occurred, and how to finish it before it’s too late. The publisher describes the comic as “appropriately measuring dashes in X-files with Cocaine Bear and Night of the Living Dead.”

“I really wanted to explore the dynamics between humanity and the animal kingdom. What happens if that delicate balance is upset,” Foster said. “At the same time, I wanted to tackle some of the horrifying horrors that could shock and entertain while dealing with those deeper issues. Animals are a byproduct of their exploration, filtered through Nico’s dark, noir-esque art lens, and I’m excited to share the whole story that has developed together over the past few years.”
“We’ve been working hard to get the better of our customers,” said Michael Perkins, editor-in-chief of Invader Comics. “It’s about developing spaces where different creators explore different genres and tell fiery stories inside. Aside from being one of the key members of the invaders team, Keith’s work on Kodoja and three parents has been a huge success. Readers we raise our stakes and increase our fears.”
Animals Trade Paperback is available from Kickstarter.
