Amazon has given the basic Fire TV Stick what appears to be a rebranding and also lowered the price by a few dollars. If you go to the old listing on the website, you’ll see a note that says “This product has a newer model,” linking to the new Fire TV Stick HD. We call this a “rebrand” because its specs appear to be nearly identical to the company’s old basic streamer. It can stream in Full HD resolution, comes with HDR support, and comes with an Alexa-enabled remote control. Press the Alexa button on your remote to search for shows or launch apps with just voice commands.
The device can run the most popular streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Peacock, and the remote comes with special buttons for Netflix and Prime Video. However, unlike the previous version that cost $40, the new Fire TV Stick HD has a base price of $35. That’s only $5 more than the version that comes with a “lite” remote with few buttons for control. However, if you want a streamer that can deliver 4K shows and movies, this isn’t the model for you. Amazon has several options, including the Fire TV Stick 4K with 16GB of storage, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and the Fire TV Cube, which offers hands-free streaming with a built-in microphone and speaker.
