Amazon’s Fire HD 8 tablet is less than half price, priced at just $55. That’s a pretty impressive deal, considering the original MSRP is a whopping $130. In fact, it’s only $5 cheaper than the Amazon Prime Day price.
This is a decent tablet even for its original money, boasting a six-core processor, 13 hours of battery life on a single charge, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD slot for up to 1TB of additional storage.

It’s pretty thin and light, making it a great option for a tablet to carry around the house. Just keep it on your nightstand and watch Netflix in an emergency. We recommended it in our official review, calling it a “great collaborative device.” It might not win any design awards, but it gets the job done.
A couple of things to note. First, it’s an ad-supported model. You’ll see ads on your lock screen. I hate ads, but this one doesn’t bother me. Overall, it’s pretty harmless. Another potential downside has to do with the app store. The tablet only has access to the Amazon App Store, not Google Play. You’ll find all the popular apps and games, but more niche titles may not be available.
Amazon is also selling the slightly more powerful Fire HD 10 tablet for $90, close to its Prime Day price, which boasts a 10.1-inch FHD screen, an octa-core processor, and 3GB of RAM.
