A new AI feature called Rewrite is coming to Microsoft Notepad. The Verge reports that Microsoft is giving Windows Insiders a preview of Rewrite, which allows AI to rewrite sentences, change the tone of Notepad, change the length of text, and more. It means.
Windows Insiders can access Rewrite by highlighting the text in the Notepad window and right-clicking in the menu, or by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I. A dialog box opens with AI-suggested rewrites of the highlighted text and a menu of adjustable features such as Length, Tone, and Format above the Replace button. According to the official Windows blog, if you prefer to write with just your fingers and head, you can turn off the AI feature in the app’s settings menu.
Microsoft’s Paint app also has unique AI features called Generative Fill and Generative Erase. The new Fill feature allows you to edit and add visual features to your photos and drawings by drawing a selection box and using a text box to describe the image you want to add to the selected area. According to the Windows blog, Paint’s “Erase” feature allows you to delete images in photos and drawings by selecting the image with the “Generate Erase Brush” while using the eraser tool.
So while it took more than 40 years to get spell-checking in Notepad, it took just a few months to get an AI that could paint and rewrite. Is it?
