PUBG: Battlegrounds adds non-player characters powered by NVIDIA ACE-generated AI. These PUBG Allies are called Co-Playable Characters and can have real-time conversations with players about what’s happening in the match. You can also adapt strategies and gameplay to suit your player style. Battle Royale publisher Krafton demonstrated the technology at CES 2025.
“We aim to continue innovating the user experience by integrating CPC into games and establish it as a benchmark in the gaming industry,” said Kang-wook Lee, Head of Deep Learning at Krafton. Krafton also plans to reveal its upcoming life simulator inZOI, and did a CES demo of the game’s CPC.
NVIDIA introduced its generative AI technology, Avatar Cloud Engine, in its Computex 2023 keynote. ACE-generated AI is also included in the multiplayer title Mecha BREAK, which was announced at last year’s Gamescom. Krafton games use an on-device small language model built with NVIDIA ACE. The publisher did not say in its press release when it would begin rolling out CPC.
