This collection of toxic adventures has its Tromaville spirit. It makes things goofy, but keeps the gory and there are a lot of annoying incidents. But the young mind and important message here makes this an ideal read for teens.
Toxic Avenger. Vol. 1 has many fun in the first chapter, the major disaster. This follows Tromaville to deal with a week-long toxic waste spill that threatens citizens. When a group of teenagers exposed to toxic waste is experimented, Toxy breaks into the hospital to save a bunch of teenagers and friends. Unfortunately, the teenager mutates into a big threat that he feels bad about what Toxy has to defeat. But the threat doesn’t stop there.
The book is filled with flashbacks from Melvin’s early years. Especially as he is being bullied by adults and children, it hinders the struggles he faced in high school.
The book is not at all afraid to portray Toxy like a rubbery thing, yet still caring for his people and those who were oppressed. In this version, he is a young teenager, becoming a victim of toxic waste, causing himself to run out in place of an adult. Exposing to the aforementioned toxic wastes, he is able to unleash his unsocially unacceptable, free wild side of the room with the disappointment of the adult. This is great, treated wonderfully and will love Toxy more.
Troma fans are very amusing at the changes that the comic has created. Yvonne, for example, is currently Toxy’s platonic friend. She is still blind and plays the accordion, but she is clearly also the brain of the costume. But like all toxic Avenger movies, Good triumphs and makes this a great book for light reading.
