A massive audio series to adapt DC’s biggest Batman story

DC and Realm today announced Launch DC High Bolume: Batman, a new scripted, ever-on-on podcast series that adapts some of the Dark Knight’s biggest stories as an audio series. It’s no surprise that the audio series is starting things with Batman’s four-part adaptation.

Although not confirmed, the press release appears to suggest that a long Halloween adaptation is approaching.

DC Large Capacity: Batman starts with a four-part adaptation of Batman. After traveling the world for more than a decade after his parents’ deaths, Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City to discover the crime and corruption he is ramping at the places he calls home. Realizing that Gotham City needs a hero, Bruce wears a cape and cowl for the first time and becomes Batman.

If Batman and new allies Jim Gordon, Li and District Attorney Harvey Dent succeed in dismissing Gotham’s crime chief, who will replace them? A new face of the villain may appear, leading to a long Halloween filled with costumed criminals.

DC High Capacity Cast: Batman features: Jason Spissack (Young Justice, Arkun) as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Jay Paulson (Mad Men, Catch 22), Leva Boule (next generation), Catwoman/Serine Kyle, Adam Ovirne (Vampire Interview) as Carmine Falcone, Simon Vance (Growing the Body, Rod: Autobiography of Rod Stewart), Dungil as Alfred Pennyworth (Panomal Activity: Ghost Dimension: Ghost Dimension), Jesse Birch (Fallout: New Begus), and Rim Penguin.

Jason Spisak is familiar with lending his vocal talent to portray characters from the DC Universe, especially the young justice Kid Flash and Joker of various animation projects. But Spisac is a very unexpected and inspired casting decision, vocalizing Batman himself. Like Troy Baker, Spisac appears to have the clear honour of being one of the few people who have portrayed both Batman and the Joker. Meanwhile, Kevin Smith wears Batman’s love on his sleeve, so it’s very fitting to voice Oswald Cobblepot Cobb, known as the Penguin.

Anne Depies, DC’s SVP and General Manager, provided:

“DC is committed to creating new ways to reach a wider audience with engaging, accessible, high-production value adaptations of the most iconic and essential Batman comic stories, including audio formats.” “We are involved in DC’s first-time viewers jumping the Batman franchise points to DC, bringing back to the book, and direct adaptations that bring existing fans, podcast enthusiasts and audiobook listeners to their favorite stories as faithfully as possible.”

DC High Capacity: Batman will be released on April 2, 2025, and in the first two episodes, adapting the iconic Batman chapters 1 and 2. Episodes can be downloaded or streamed for free where you can listen to podcasts (such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts) or where you can watch them on the official DC YouTube channel.
