Image Comics has released a preview for Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale, which hits shelves on December 11th. The series will once again transport you to the netherworld of Lovesick, the fan-favorite erotic series by Luana Vecchio.

“After I finished Lovesick, I knew I couldn’t take my eyes off Domino for long,” Vecchio said, “but before I returned to The Lovesick Club, I knew I had to take a step back, explore Domino’s mind, soak in those sad eyes and get back to her roots as Madeleine. I’d always dreamed of writing a coming-of-age thriller-horror story set in the 2000s, the time when I was a teenager.”

So, what is Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale about?

Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale tells the story of Madeline, a 12-year-old girl who’s terrified of growing up. She’s afraid of becoming like a cruel older girl or facing the scorn of her devoutly religious mother. But most of all, she doesn’t want to become a target for the monsters that lurk around every corner. But a stomach-churning discovery forces Madeline to face the harsh reality that adulthood isn’t a choice, it’s a matter of survival. Thrown into a world of perverted killers and immoral websites, she must come to terms with her own dark obsessions, and is led down a dark path that leads her to become the infamous Mother Demon, Domino.

Vecchio added, “Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale explores what it means to be a young girl in a world where youth is a double-edged sword – both a strength and a weakness. I am incredibly proud of the work I’ve created and the themes I’ve tackled, and I believe the comic book world needs more characters like Madeline.”

PORTLAND, OR, September 23, 2024 — Acclaimed artist and writer Luana Vecchio, winner of the 2022 Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award, invites you back into the netherworld of her fan-favorite erotic series Lovesick to reveal the tragic origins of the dark web’s most notorious dominatrix, Domino. Part coming-of-age story, part horror thriller, the new four-part miniseries Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale is a must-read for both veteran fans and newcomers to the twisted world of Lovesick, where youth and innocence are just prey to the cruel. The shocking new miniseries launches this December.

Vecchio continued, “We wanted to create a miniseries that everyone could enjoy, even if it was new to the world of Lovesick. There will be no latex-clad dominatrixes or graceful cannibals. The horror unfolds within the walls of our homes, in the online world, and on the journey of adolescence. It’s not an easy journey, but it’s a necessary one. Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale is a celebration of the comics medium and shows that even the most uncomfortable stories should be free to be told.”

Series editor Edward Caio added: “I’m excited to be revisiting this world both as a writer and as an editor. When I read the proposal for this new series, I immediately knew it would be one of Luana’s most radical works to date. Young Madeline will face many challenges that will lead her down a very dark path, and I hope Lovesick fans and new readers alike will enjoy this journey.”

The miniseries will also feature a beautiful interlocking variant cover set by Vecchio, available to order in its entirety, as well as a variant cover by popular Italian illustrator Jessica Cioffi (aka LOPUTYN).

Doll Parts: A Lovesick Tale #1 will be available in comic shops on Wednesday, December 11th.
